Understanding the perfect and easiest way of planting any plant, in a pot or ground.
On this page you will find the best and easiest way to plant any plant whether you want to plant in the earth or in a basket/pot.
Dig a hole 15cm wider than the pot: Width ways and horizontal, you want to dig out the earth around 5-15cm bigger than the original pot. This will depend on the plant in question and the plants needs, so make sure to read any care advise given on the label.

Apply soil to the bottom of the hole: Before placing the pot back into the pre dug hole, apply a layer of soil or compost at the bottom of your hole for the plant pot to sit on. It is your choice whether you want to compress the soil or leave it loose.

Place the pot back into the hole: Place the pot back on top of the layer of soil at the bottom of the hole. Pour your choice of soil into the hole and plant pot making sure the hole you have dug out with the plant pot still inside is completely full only making the ring on top of the pot visible.

Compact the soil and finish off: After the plant pot is completely covered with soil or compost inside the hole. The soil will be very loose and soft to the touch as you have poured it in and not compressed it down yet, compress the soil down the sides of the plant pot and keep doing so until you reach ground level. Extra soil needed to reach the top of the plant pot should be left over inside the pot, take it from inside the pot and place it down the outside until you are happy with your soil height.
Slowly remove: For plant pots of size, take your fist and tap the sides of the plant pot from the inside to make sure the soil does not fall into the hole upon removing. Finally, slowly remove the plant pot upwards and after doing so you should see a perfect sized hole fully prepared for you to drop the plant inside.

(Optional) Final touches: After you have taken the plant pot out and you see your perfectly sized hole ready for the plant of your choosing. It is up to you whether you want to scatter some bone meal over the hole created or any other plant nutrients. I do this step when planting trees and other large plants.

Why I plant this way.
Every plant I have planted this way, has never let me down. You can control anything and everything, from the density to how deep and wide you want your plant. More so, you can choose the angle or position you want your plant installed. The hole in the picture was for a Wollemi Pine hence the generous width around the pot.

Benefits.
Control: You can control things such as how deep you want your plant, Which nutrients you apply, the face of your plant you want displayed as you sit in your garden, soil density and if you want to plant your plant on an angle or placed nearer to one side of the hole dug, you can.
Easy: In gardening there are many things that take it's toll. So finding an efficient and easy method matters! Not only does this method save time and cleanup, every plant of mine goes in this way and thrives.
Worry free: You do not have to worry about how well the plant is going to do if you have used this method as you have created your hole perfectly to fit the plant straight out of the pot. You have mimicked the shape of the plant pot by placing the soil around the pot, so when you place the plant in, the roots will thrive as the soil is evenly proportioned all around to the perfect shape of the roots. No air pockets, not too deep or shallow it is just right!
